a cappella gospel using loop stations and antiquated vocal processing effects pedals? Yes, thank you.

I know. It’s not fair that the word laughter is trapped inside slaughter.

Beautiful birthday weekend at Wildflower Farms. Best friends, amazing views, and a pottery class. Wish I could have stayed all week.

TERRY

TERRY is short for Terabyte, don’t let him tell you any different. Terry made his name look like an acronym so he appeared more official.

I tapped my friend, my Son-Dad, and the best person for the job, Chad Van Gaalen to create the concept drawings of TERRY to then be created by The Jim Henson Creature Shop.

I sent chad a heavy handed Dr. Who mood board featuring a bunch of Daleks and CVG knocked it out of the park. Below are the original TERRY drawings made by Chad Van Gaalen.

After being over the moon with Chad’s concept drawings, myself and my “Must Hire” Art Dept. utility jackknife, Kilby Rodell got down to tracing CVG’s drawings to help make the robot function.

With these new adjustments we felt the best way to explain to Henson how TERRY worked was by showing him move. CVG casually put together this animation for us to show during the pitch.

After pitching the idea to Henson, CVG came out to LA and we toured the creature shop - below is CVG with the t.v. family of our childhood, The Dinosaurs.

CVG got to practice/play with puppeteering a “tail.”

Collaborating with CVG and Henson in making TERRY was the most validating and humbling things I’ve ever had the privilege of being a part of. If I find more pictures or videos laying around I’ll be sure to share them here.
