BEA

Megan Ferguson as Bea in S2 of DCLLC

Megan Ferguson stepped into Stephanie Allynne’s role with just two weeks notice and made it her own. I can’t imagine the pressure to take on something like that but Megan is a top of the food chain talent. Gries always compared her to Lucile Ball on set.

Because of the time crunch we first worked on her posture, gave her a pair of Sketcher’s Shape ups from the 90’s, and let her “healthy grandma walk” lead the way.

VIRGIL BOTTOMS

Thomas Middleditch (above) prepping to play VIRGIL BOTTOMS while in HMU. Thomas is one of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever worked with, he’s unbelievably quick. In one of the scenes in the Dream Chamber Thomas dropped his line - but he didn’t stop to reset or call for the line - He, as Virgil, went all the way around the room yelling at each member of the Dream Corp staff - circling back to himself where he picked up right on the line he dropped. It was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen any actor do. His mind is a fountain.

A lot of jokes end up on the cutting room floor because of the quarter hour format. One that never made it was the fact Virgil has TWO LEFT HANDS.

Son Dads

Sons and Dads: Chad Van Gaalen’s Father and my Father both passed away in the same week. It was a weird, sad patch for us both. We spoke with each other at length about our loss. I asked if Chad would be my new Dad. He agreed only if I would be his. Chad paused for a beat and said, “But if you’re my Dad, that means I’m your son - and if I’m your Dad, you’re also my son.” We laughed hard, and in that moment we became each others Son-Dad. SD for short.

3D

Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Stessen and Dugan O’Neal photographed at Unbridled Sound by Brent Kiser.

We three D’s have known each other since 2009 in the music video days when we were the first class of Doomsday Ent. We’ve been overlapping at Unbridled Sound for at least a decade at least. On this particular day I was in “The Barn” for DCLLC S3, Dugan was next door in “Barn Jovi” mixing a campaign, and Brent’s session after us was with The Daniels, Scheinert and Kwan who were mixing EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE.

After this photo we watched down the epic office fight scene in EEAAO with Kwan and editor Paul Rogers before the wires were even painted out - it’s a favorite memory. Shout out to Joy on York. Shout out to York Blvd in general.
